     Part 1

Middleborough is the correct spelling of the Town.  It is also spelled as Middleboro.  This site is devoted to bringing information of the Town of Middleborough to the people.  The proposed Middleboro Resort Casino, Middleboro Casino or what ever one wishes to call it, is an important issue.  If you would like Middleboro Casino Facts or more, Please feel free to ask.  This site can be reached through Middleboroughnews.com or Middleboronews.com.

Resort-Casino General Information

Location of Proposed Resort Casino

The proposed Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal Resort Casino is in Middleborough, Massachusetts.  Although it may be spelled differently by different people the correct spelling is Middleborough.

It is proposed to be located along the north side of Route 44, east of the Middleborough KOA (known as the Boston-Cape Cod KOA) and south of Precinct Street.  It is bordered to the east by Thompson Street (Route 105) and property owned by the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife.

Middleborough is the second largest community in Massachusetts at about 73 square miles.  (Plymouth is the largest at about 103 square miles).  Middleborough's population is about 23,000 and has almost 15,000 registered voters.

You can see the location on the right or for a larger map, click the link below the map.

Statistics of the Proposed Resort Casino Site

The site is comprised of several parcels which can be joined together.  Three of the parcels were purchased at auction from the Town of Middleborough in the Spring of 2007 for about $1,765,000.  All together the parcels owned, controlled or under option for future use by the Wampanoag Tribe is about 534 acres.

The proposed site is currently served by town water and electricity utilities.  Town sewer and natural gas utilities will be brought as part of the site development at no cost to the town or its rate payers.

Although the site is along Route 44, there is no current access directly to the site.  Improvements to Route 44 will be necessary in order to provide such access.

Proposed Site Plans

The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe has released preliminary Plans for their facility.  They released the plans to the public on March 18, 2008.  They plans were widely publicized in local print and television.  The two site plans are the overall plan which includes the proposed golf course and the hotel and casino plan which shows more detail on the building, placement and highway access.
